The Marriage of the Unequals

The marriage of the unequals

The caste question is not raised in Twisha Sharma Case interestingly.

Giribala devi has clearly spoken all of it. She said very clearly that the parents have pushed the daughter into glamour industry and lived on her looks.

How can the mother-in-law be called regressive when she pointed out that if a girl getting married is speaking about having physical relationship so freely as a part of her career, will she choose to live as a bahu or carry on her past activities.

When Educational Qualification is Equal to Ornament, and has always been so, it leads to competition. Ornament has some financial value which symbolises one’s financial condition. Similarly, education from a certain institute gives one a standing too.

Gold can be owned by whoever has money and recently, education in reputed places have also passed over to those who have the money.

In Twisha Sharma’s case, she has an MBA is earned via distance while Samarth Singh has done his law course from NLSIU, Bangalore, a prestigious university.

Globally all courses have a rank. So, Samarth Singh’s educational standard will be apparently far better than any Distance Course holder. There is also a reference to the fact that they found her to be “uneducated”.

But the dowry allegations arc silly. Judges are connected to very powerful people and are rich. Obviously, this might have attracted Twisha Sharma to marry Samarth. But why did Samarth proceed after knowing that she is a professional model who intends to carry on with her career.

The Sharmas thought they can win over with their cunningness and caste pride. Let’s wait and watch. However, the Singhs will have to cough up the money which the Sharmas splurged off to pretend rich.
