In the next ten years, I want to see myself as an established writer. My friends are already established writers and I feel inspired by them. Today I am going to present a story. If you enjoyed it as a humorous one, I guess I am towards my success:
Here goes the story:
The Fun Run
Walking being the easiest sport, I often take to long walks. One day I came across an advertisement about 10 k run. So, I started practising for it by regularly walking from office to home. Thus with great confidence I appeared in the field on the Run Day.
Seeing Akshay Kumar, people were over excited but I could not see him due to the crowd and then came the sound of gun shot and people started running. I also started running with the crowd but as hours passed by, I saw very few people on the road.
At times I started doubting whether I was on the right place or not but after 5 hours, I saw the finishing line and one man came with falcon’s speed greeting me for finishing but he went back faster stating, oh she doesn’t have a bib.
I was completely drained of energy and enthusiasm though I completed half marathon instead of 10k. This was not the first mistake, the second mistake took me unwittingly to the bus stop near Iscon temple in Bangalore.
After 14 years, I decided to go for the run but this time I chose 5k. My husband also accompanied me and we were on time in the venue as we stated very early from home.
My husband first picked up few water bottles and filled his tiny backpack with it. I started to walk keeping a normal pace while he stopped at the first refreshment point enjoying bananas but I carried on. The next point offered juice which I skipped. I was sure he would try the juice too and tried all flavours while I was walking briskly.
After covering 3 km, I called him and found he was on the other side of the road. I continued and finished the walk in one hour while he was not to be seen anywhere. When I called him, he said he was in the Lodhi garden resting. He also collected flowers from there.
I collected my medal and stood in the serpentine queue to collect breakfast and after I collected my breakfast and started eating, I found my husband coming with his plate full of vadas, upma, idlis and halwa. I wondered who actually had fun run – is it me or him?
Good start of story writing. All d best 👍
