Not long ago, a student from Oxford proved that IIT entrance exam is an overhyped exam and solved the paper in 40 minutes or so.

If somebody loves engineering, one cannot become a sadhu. When one writes IIT exam, it is expected that one is interested in engineering. Opting for asceticism means that person never understood engineering. He has good memory, practised the subjects and cleared the exam.

Engineering and Asceticism are two different things. Diametrically opposite. Even a woman like Mamata Kulkarni, a B grade film actress, who was found connected with drug smuggling and with mafia also became an ascetic.
